Professor Alm is an active member of the Department of Public Policy & Administration. He was selected as a Boise State University Distinguished Professor in 2011. In recent semesters Professor Alm has taught PUBADM 500 (Administration in the Public Sector), PUBADM 501 (Public Policy), PUBADM 503 (Research Methods), PUBADM 542 (Science, Democracy, and the Environment) and PUBADM 692 (Assessment, which is also the capstone course for all MPA students). In the coming year’s he will focus his teaching on the newly created five 1-credit research methods sequence. Professor Alm’s primary research interests are environmental policy with specific attention to the science–policy
linkage and the United States–Canada
relationship with specific attention to borderlands issues.

Les Alm was elected to become president-elect for the Western Social Science Association (WSSA) beginning April 2012. He will serve a one year term in this position and then move to president of WSSA for 2013-2014. As preseident-elect he is in charge of the full conference program for the annual meeting of WSSA to be held in Denver in May 2013.
