Dr. David Solan is an Assistant Professor of Public Policy & Administration, and he is the Director of the Energy Policy Institute at BSU. Dr. Solan is also an Associate Director for the Center for Advanced Energy Studies, a public/private partnership between the Idaho National Laboratory, Boise State University, the University of Idaho, and Idaho State University. He is the Principal Investigator for more than $3 million in collaborative research grants and contracts from the US Department of Energy, the National Science Foundation, the Western Governors’ Association, the State of Idaho, and the Idaho National Laboratory, among others.
Prior to BSU, Dr. Solan worked as a senior advisor at the US Environmental Protection Agency, reporting to the Deputy Administrator (COO) and the head of the Office of Research and Development on management and energy issues. He also served as an energy policy specialist on a committee and directed a legislative office in the US House of Representatives.
He received his PhD and MA from the University of Delaware, and he has a BA from Drew University.
