TECHNOLOGY NEWS

As you all should be aware by now, we are using on our new server PRAXIS and SSPAFAC has gone on to other services.  As I mentioned before, there is not a lot of difference that you can see with the new operating system, Novell 5.  You should still be able to get your data from you H: drive and still connect to your GroupWise and the internet.  The transfer to the new server did not go as smoothly as I would have liked, but the loss of data was minimal and all the rights and privileges restored perfectly.

I have a new work study student, Zachary Snyder.  He is going to be (and has already proven to be) a tremendous help to me in so many areas - upgrading client software, setting up computers, capturing printer ports, and all the day-to-day errands  I find hard to get to quickly.  So when you see him in your area, or see a note left from him, know that he is helping me make your computing experiences better and easier.

A new challenge for technology in the College this semester is the proposed webcast of the Frank Church Conference next month.  I have been asked to coordinate with the Web Development Lab and University Television Productions to put the conference live on the web.  What a great opportunity for me and for the College.
