TECHNOLOGY NEWSWork is progressing on the Digital Lab in the Communication Building. A total of 15 student computers have been purchased, 14 Windows NT 4.0 workstations and 1 Win95 with a video capture card. Other digital equipment include a digital camera, a digital pad, teleconferencing cameras, and a writeable CD-ROM. Furniture is scheduled to arrive the first week in January and the lab will be up and running by the first day of class. Please visit the lab when it opens and view the new setup with the expectation that you may want to utilize it in your planning for future classes. It will not allow as large a class as in the past, but can be scheduled for lab sections or smaller upper-division classes. A list of software loaded on the computers is available on request and additional software packages can be submitted for consideration. The migration to GroupWise is progressing, with the College of SSPA being scheduled to change over in April. I will be keeping you advised of this change as the time for our migration approaches. SSPA belongs to the biggest postoffice at the University (POCOLLEG) and so will be the last to be moved to the new version. |
