Network Update
All new computers have been setup and installed. The new network printers are in and ready for installation. Our technology plan implementation for FY02 is just about complete and I'm busy getting specs on a new server as Praxis is reaching the end of its warranty.
A recent survey to all faculty and staff has requested information on operating system and office suite information. I have site licenses purchased to upgrade all faculty and staff to at least Windows 98 and Office 2000. I've had over a 50% response rate on my survey and am getting my implementation plan worked out. Most of the upgrades will occur over the semester break. NOTE: The operating system change is an upgrade, not a complete install. All current settings will remain the same. The only thing I will need to do is uninstall Norton (the software looks at the upgrade as a virus attack) and Novell clients, then do the upgrade, then reinstall Norton and Novell.
REMINDER:
I cannot repeat too many times, update your virus protection (Norton Corporate Edition) often and scan your computer often. Workstations as well as servers have been targets of the viruses that are going around. Save your data often and be sure you have a backup on the server (your 'H' or 'I' folders) as I have restored a lot of data lately that would have been lost permanently had it not been on the server and backed up regularly.
