Network Update

Technology in higher education is a hot topic and an annual national conference is dedicated to presentations, workshops, and vendor seminars on the subject.  It is called Educause and this year's conference was held at the Opryland Hotel in Nashville, TN.  I attended the conference last week.  I focused my attention on reviewing web applications for on-line classes, attending presentations on new technology uses at different colleges and university across the nation, and making connections with our regional reps for Microsoft, Citrix, and other software and hardware vendors.  There was lots to see and do at the conference and I came away with some new ideas and new contacts.

The third year of the technology plan is in full swing and Susan has written a little about her progress:

According to the SSPA technology plan, I am continuing to prepare the new computers for distribution to selected faculty. Eight have already been delivered and several more scheduled to go out next week. If I have not already contacted you to set up a time, I will be doing so in the next two weeks. Furthermore, I am working on cleaning up six of the

replaced computers in order that they may be put to use in other designated department offices. I am enjoying working with all the staff and faculty and participating in implementing this year’s technology plan.     SUSAN

If you are having problems connecting to the network, or your PC is not responding as well as it should be responding, please contact your technology team at x3816.
