Biography:
Dr. Natalie Nelson-Marsh specializes in organizational communication and communication technologies. These broad interests translate into a focus upon 1) the communicative constitution of virtual or distributed organizations, including how distributed organizations “hang together” across vast spans of time and space 2) the social construction of virtual organizational culture, 3) the reconceptualization of the social and cultural aspects of communication technologies in the constitution of organizations. Dr. Nelson-Marsh’s work appears in the Management Communication Quarterly Journal and in the book Virtual and Collaborative Teams: Process, Technologies, and Practice. In 2007, Natalie won the Charles Redding Dissertation of the Year Award from the International Communication Association. Also in 2007, Natalie received Phi Kappa Phi’s Outstanding Faculty Award. Current projects include a qualitative study of the Internet Engineering Task Force, the virtual organization responsible for the continued development of the Internet infrastructure. Natalie earned a B.A. (2000) in English and a B.A. (2000) in Communication from the University of Utah, her M.A. (2002) from the University of Colorado at Boulder, and her Ph.D. (2006) from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
