
Faculty Service to Profession Grants
Application and Instructions
The Dean's Office is making $2,000 available to support faculty who participate in leadership activities in professional or scholarly associations that are not funded through other sources. Funding can be used for any service activity that is directly related to a professional role as BSU faculty. Funds are primarily intended for travel or other expenses related to offices held in international, national, or regional associations; participation in leadership activities related to higher education that are a service to the discipline or other discipline-related activities.[1] The grants will be competitively based and awarded by the Dean’s Office. Grants will not exceed $500. Applications will be received and funds allocated at anytime during the fiscal year, until the funds are depleted.[2] Typically, only one grant per person is made each academic year. Grants will not be awarded to fund the same event in subsequent years.
Successful applicants are expected to submit, after the event, a written report that indicates how the funds were spent, benefits to the recipient, department and/or college.
Priority will be given to proposals that:
· involve leadership activities associated with holding elected office in national or international discipline-centered or higher education-centered associations.
